Anita Dunn, a senior adviser to Joe Biden, attended a roundtable on cryptocurrency in her personal capacity amid reports that the US president might be reconsidering his stance on crypto.

On July 10, U.S. Congress members, including Representative Ro Khanna, Representative Joe Neguse, and Senator Kristin Gillibrand, along with Anita Dunn, participated in a roundtable with crypto industry leaders. The event featured notable attendees such as Sheila Warren, CEO of the Crypto Council for Innovation; Kristin Smith, CEO of the Blockchain Association; and entrepreneur Mark Cuban. The roundtable aimed to discuss digital assets as a nonpartisan issue.

Warren described the event as a “productive step forward” in addressing crypto-related matters, a sentiment echoed by other participants. Dixon emphasized the importance of U.S. leadership in blockchain technology and digital assets to ensure the industry’s growth and success.

After the event, Garlinghouse suggested on X that the roundtable might mark a transition from discussion to concrete actions. However, he noted existing partisan divides on crypto issues and criticized Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Gary Gensler as being resistant to digital assets.

On the same day, Representatives Khanna and Neguse were set to join other House members in considering overriding President Biden’s veto of a resolution related to an SEC rule. This rule requires banks to account for cryptocurrency as a liability on their balance sheets. Overriding the veto would need a two-thirds majority in the House.

Additionally, President Biden is reportedly contemplating accepting crypto contributions for his 2024 reelection campaign. Both Biden and Trump are expected to be the Democratic and Republican candidates, respectively, pending their official nominations at their parties' conventions in August and July.
