Former U.S. President Donald Trump’s family-backed cryptocurrency platform, World Liberty Financial, has fallen prey to scammers, resulting in over 70,000 users being misled by fake cryptocurrency giveaways. Scammers took advantage of the platform’s official Telegram channel, posting fraudulent ads that diverted users to a fake group promising $15,000 in cryptocurrency.

Launched just last month, World Liberty Financial has quickly attracted more than 230,000 subscribers on its official Telegram channel, establishing itself as a competitor to traditional banks. However, cybercriminals have exploited this rapid growth by posting fake ads on the legitimate channel, leading users to a fraudulent group called “World Liberty Financial Airdrop.” This fake channel, now with 74,741 subscribers, falsely claims to offer up to $15,000 in cryptocurrency to users who connect their crypto wallets, putting their funds at risk.

In response, World Liberty Financial’s official Telegram channel has issued several warnings to its followers. One message advised: “Please be aware of scams and fake tokens claiming to be associated with ‘Defiant Ones,’ ‘World Liberty,’ or similar names. Do not engage with these tokens.”

The platform also provided users with tips to identify fake ads, highlighting that genuine posts will never carry the label “Sponsored” or “Ad.” Users were urged to report any suspicious content to Telegram and exercise caution. Another message warned: “Please do not click on any ads or links claiming to be associated with World Liberty Financial. We are NOT conducting any airdrops or selling any tokens at this time.”

Meanwhile, Trump continues to promote his pro-crypto stance, referring to himself as the “crypto president.” He has proposed the establishment of a “national bitcoin stockpile” if re-elected and recently launched his fourth non-fungible token (NFT) collection, reinforcing his commitment to cryptocurrency initiatives.
