2023-04-04 11:04:05

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly becoming an integral part of modern life, with various applications ranging from medicine to finance and human resources. However, global AI acceptance varies widely across countries, as demonstrated by a recent survey of over 17,000 participants from 17 nations. Conducted in collaboration with the University of Queensland in Australia, the study included respondents from the United States, Japan, Australia, and various European, Nordic, and Asian countries, in addition to the BRICS bloc (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa).

The survey results reveal that emerging countries, particularly those within the BRICS bloc, exhibit the highest engagement with AI. Among these nations, China leads the pack, with 75% of its population using AI in their workplace. India follows closely behind at 66%, while Brazil registers a 50% adoption rate. Conversely, citizens of developed countries appear more skeptical about embracing AI technology. Japan and Finland are at the lower end of the spectrum, with trust in AI systems standing at a mere 23%. Meanwhile, 40% of American respondents expressed trust in AI; however, only 24% were open to using it.

The study delved into the use and acceptance of AI across various professional fields such as medicine, finance, and human resources, as well as its role in everyday activities. It is worth noting that AI has become a global tech obsession in recent months, with the topic reaching an all-time high in Google searches. This surge in interest is primarily due to significant advancements in several key areas, including text-to-image generation, advanced language learning models, and platforms that facilitate the use of such technologies in everyday life situations.

Examples of these groundbreaking platforms include ChatGPT, Midjourney, Bing, and Lensa. As AI technology continues to develop, it is likely to become increasingly pervasive and integrated into our daily lives. The varying degrees of adoption and trust in AI across countries underscore the importance of understanding cultural and societal perspectives to facilitate more effective AI implementation on a global scale.

In conclusion, the study conducted in partnership with the University of Queensland highlights the contrasting attitudes towards AI adoption across different countries. Emerging nations, particularly those in the BRICS bloc, showcase greater engagement with AI, while citizens in developed countries exhibit more skepticism. As AI technology advances and becomes more ubiquitous, addressing these varying perspectives and fostering trust in AI will be crucial to ensuring its successful integration into our global society. By understanding these differing attitudes, stakeholders can make informed decisions and develop tailored strategies to promote AI adoption and acceptance across the world.
